Auto Title Division

The Title Department processes titles for all motor vehicles and trailers operated on public roads or highways, as well as travel trailers, off-highway motorcycles, watercraft 14 feet or longer, outboard motors 10 hp or more, all watercraft with a permanently affixed mechanical means of propulsion of 10 hp or more, and aircraft, unless exempt.

Under Ohio law, mini-trucks, USV, UTV are not motor vehicles and are titled for ownership purposes upon the owner’s request. A certificate of title is not required when only being used on provate property.

Under Ohio law:

  • APVs and off-highway motorcycles are motor vehicles and are titled.
  • Snowmobiles are not motor vehicles and are not titled.

Title records are not public. The Federal Driver Privacy Protection Act protects individual’s privacy regarding motor vehicles records, including auto title records.
